Environment

As a company that provides products and services to solve the problems of businesses, consumers, and society, DNP views coexisting with the Earth's environment as an important management task. Our mission is to coexist with nature and pass on the Earth to the next generation without wasting its limited resources. We implement specific measures in Japan and overseas in line with our basic environmental policies - "preserve the Earth's environment" and "use resources effectively." DNP reduces the negative effects of its business activities on the environment to the absolute minimum. In addition to using resources effectively, we are working harder than ever on the development of eco-friendly products.

Environmental Management

Environmental Management Structure

The DNP Group has established the Sustainability Committee to oversee Group-wide environmental activities, along with an environmental committee at each of its business units and Group companies that in turn controls domestic and overseas activities in each business field. Each environmental committee has its own office and promotion office.

The Sustainability Committee is chaired by the director (managing director) responsible for Sustainability at company headquarters and is made up of the directors and corporate officers of the basic organizations at company headquarters, who are responsible for the environment. The Committee deliberates and makes decisions concerning the environmental policies, objectives and plans of the entire Group, and monitors the progress of the plans and the status of the achievement of those objectives.

Each environmental committee of its business units and Group companies carries out activities based on decisions made by the Sustainability Committee and the characteristics of different business fields, including activities at our locations outside of Japan.

Environmental Management System

We established an independent environmental management system (EMS) in 1993. Using Eco-Reports and Site Eco-Reports, we operate a half yearly "Plan-Do-Check-Action" cycle.
We also strive to improve the efficacy of our EMS. To that end, we began performing "Eco-Audits" in 1996 to strengthen the foundation of the group's environmental management initiatives.

Outline of the DNP Group Environmental Management System

The Corporate Philosophy is positioned at the apex of the environmental management system and the Code of Conduct is placed below the Philosophy. The Sustainability Committee is set up based on the Philosophy and the Code while the DNP Group Eco-Report and Site Eco-Report are formulated as the Environmental Vision.

Eco-Audit Content

We began implementing "Eco-Audits" in 1996, so as to make our Environmental Management System (EMS) more effective.
Under this system, when an audit reveals that corrective measures are needed at a site, a "Corrective Action Request" is issued in writing and such actions as necessary are managed by the Sustainability Committee.
