Event Summary and DNP’s Spatial-Related Initiatives

Organized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), A'23 is an architecture-related exhibition held at the same time as the annual AIA conference. DNP will offer interior and exterior materials with a proven track record in Japan and overseas to visitors such as architects and designers with a high level of expertise, as well as manufacturers of housing equipment and building materials.

DNP is a comprehensive printing company that continues to create value by leveraging our proprietary strengths in Printing & Information (P&I) to contribute to the advancement of environmental, social, and economic sustainability, along with the improved well-being of all people.  In this latest development, we will propose a decorative sheet for exterior use comprising various functions and a wood veneer substitute decorative sheet that can be stained over on a wood grain printed sheet in paper and/or PVC that have been enhanced by our unique Electronic Beam (EB) technology.

EB technology takes various functional materials that are thinly and uniformly coated on a base material, such as a film, and instantly hardens them via EB irradiation to produce weather and scratch resistance functions.

DNP Booth Main Exhibits and Product Features

1. Exterior decorative sheet with various functions enhanced by EB technology

Decorative film used in exteriors for building doors, window frames and louvers. Numerous design variations can be produced based on the fact that the texture can be embossed on patterns such as wood. Also, by combining EB technology with weather-resistant agents it is also possible to enhance durability by preventing weathering and color fading of the design due to ultraviolet rays. At the same time, the product emits low amounts of the 13 Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) subject to the guidelines drawn up by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2002, and considered to cause sick house syndrome. These VOCs include chemical substances, such as formaldehyde, toluene, and xylene.

2. Wood veneer substitute sheet – allows for after-staining of printed sheet

The veneer substitute decorative sheet is a decorative sheeting that allows for after-staining, and which substitutes for the thinly sliced wood veneer used in furniture, fittings, and window frames to date. It has been developed from the standpoint of environmental protection and as a solution to distribution concerns overcoming challenges, such as unstable distribution and soaring prices, which have emerged as a result of the depletion of wood resources. We will present two types of products, with either paper or PVC as the base material, which can be used in line with the objective and the processing shape.

Going Forward

To date, DNP has built up an extensive track record with interior-related companies in North America in the field of interior materials, such as decorative sheeting for furniture and fittings. Looking ahead, we will continue to contribute to the creation of comfortable and affluent living spaces by leveraging our proprietary technology and high design capabilities with a focus on exterior materials.
